Here's where the cover is today...still playing around with it. I'm thinking that I"m going to cover it in doodles and then protect it by covering those with clear packing tape...but maybe not. Since it's my private book, maybe I won't put tape on it for protection.
Here's a peek at the inside:
While I was working on it, my daughter commented, "that's cool mom"...{whaaaaattt? is she coming around to appreciating my doodles?} Then she really surprised me by asking for one for her dorm room. Nothing would make me happier! She just wants a small poster, not a book to put in dreams, so I made two, and let her choose before I personalized it. Here's the one she picked:
And here's the other one (I'm still working on both):
I'm really enjoying doodling on such a large scale. I'm thinking about making a few more and then having some prints made for the etsy shop. Anyone have a printing method they recommend (if it's not top secret, of course)? I don't know if it'd be reasonable cost wise, but I want to look into it.
{Ed: thank you so much for all your interest for prints! !!! I am working on it and they will be in my etsy shop sometime in November. I'll be sure to post a notice on the blog as well. }
Prints are finally available in my etsy shop! Thank you so much for all the interest and encouragement!!!

Ohhhh, Pam! These are fabulous!!! No wonder your daughter made her request. She'll be the hit of her dorm.
Regarding prints - I've taken some of my work to a local printer and had them do copies of my work on their copiers. They used really great paper and the colors were superb because they color calibrate their machines. Best of all, the prints were very affordable. Hugs, Terri

Looks great! nice designs. I would love to know where people print their images also. I'm looking into buying a large scale photo printer, although they are several hundred dollars.

What if you cover the surface in a thin layer of matte mod podge. I did that with mine and you can't tell it is there, but it will give some protection. Your journaling is inspiring and makes me happy! Hugs!

I love your lettering styles, they just make me want to write. I tend to stick with the same old thing because it's easy. I really need to venture out and practice. I love lettering, always have.
I love the posters you made your daughter. I hope she knows how lucky she is. :) I can't help with the printing but when you figure it out I can help with the buying. I'd love to own some of your prints. They are gorgeous.

Hey peach, yes, I agree...go local. Mostly because of shipping costs. Or ask your brother for printer ideas??!
These are soooooo pretty. I just showed my Allie and agreed, too!!

Your writing is so beautiful- I love the way you use "real" fonts, and make them your own! You should develop a Pam Font for the computer!! Wouldn't that be fun?

Hey Pam - these are great! I just came across an old very large (typical black covered) sketch book and was thinking I should do SOMETHING with it. I've also been quite interested in lettering recently so that would be a good place to do that.
Interestingly I had a great talk with a young tattoo apprentice yesterday at a book shop, about modern "art calligraphy" - much of which coincides with "traditional tattoo calligraphy" and showed him some examples in art journaling books. He was finding nothing on tattoo but I showed him Keith Haring, early Andy Warhol (who's lovely writing was all done by his elderly Polish mom, btw!) and other aspects of art he didn't know about...
Anyhow... as usual my dear you are a FONT OF INSPIRATION! (oops didn't intend the double entendre but it fits!)
I have heard many artists (musicians and otherwise) quoted as saying "I am only the instrument" (e.g. a "higher force is channeling the beauty thru creativity which man needs to survive") - I truly believe that. But you are not just an instrument - you're a fountain! :-)
