How on earth do you always know how to fit your words onto the page so perfectly? That is my biggest hangup with making a journal. You do it so wonderfully.

pure inspiration.

Thank you :) But if you really look at it, its not perfectly on the page- see how big the letters are at the top and keep getting smaller? Even within a single line or word the letters get squished in- look at the word receptacle for example, or the difference in size between the words ALL and PLACE on the same line. Its subtle, but I was trying to fit the word in. I dont pencil in words (although you could), but occasionally, I regroup and picture the rest of the quote on the page in my mind and see how I might need to adjust. Does that make any sense? Its not about perfect, its about unique or original in my mind. If the words had stretched to the next page, I could have finished that page with personal journaling or some collage, or drawings, and it would have looked just right to someone who didnt know what I was thinking when I was starting out the quote. I hope this helps a little!

Awesome page! Excellent question and answer about fitting the words in!!! I just realized that it is one of my stumbling blocks that keep me from starting a page! THANKS!!!! And oooh I am dying to see the rest of the right page. Love the colors!!!!

Great page. I always admire your lettering. Thanks for your thoughts on unique and original instead of perfect.

Pam, thanks for explaining your method of positioning the journaling on your page! In the past I was a horrible perfectionist, and would be tempted to tear up a page if the lettering wasn't completely uniform in size and proportion...but these days I'm trying to cut myself some slack and take a more casual approach to creating in my art journal. It helps a lot to know that others struggle with the same issues at times, and that they too have to "fudge" things a bit, and give themselves some slack! Thanks!

Thanks for the mini tutorial. :) You could have fooled me. It looks great!
