Just had to show you what's been tickling my fancy these days. Lately, when I pick up my son, he gets off the bus carrying his latest creature made from things he finds at school. I love that he's making stuff! He was very proud to tell me that when a boy in his class saw them he called out to the teacher, "Mr. S., look! He's an artist." Those tall ones seem a little Tim Burton-esque to me.
I've been making a little journal for my friend to use. One made of non-precious items so she'll actually use it instead of being intimidated to use it or worry about messing it up. I used the method learned in Mary Ann's Remains of the Day Class that I took over the holidays. But this journal is actually just one of the inside signatures with a PapayaArt plastic card sleeve on the outside. The cool artwork, like the little guy below is from the recent issue of Hi Fructose magazine .
This page showing through the back plastic cover is from the Hi Fructose magazine and is by artist Andrew Brandou.
Ok, off to continue working on sorting for a major destashing. I'm changing gears a bit with what I've been creating, and need to make room for new loves, like paints!

Love seeing images from Hi-Fructose being used! Art creates more art. ;-)
I also love the trippy creatures your son is making! I immediately thought "War of the Worlds meets Tim Burton!" =)

Hi Pam -
If your destashing leaves you with lots of extra scraps, please consider giving them away as a blog giveaway. Was that subtle? hint..hint...hint...

Love your son's creations. Definitely Tim Burton-ish. Love the journal you made for your friend. You have the coolest pieces to add in to your journals. Where so you get all of them? (Love Mary Ann's class!)

My son has taken to making sculptures out of masking tape during his free time at school. Boys can be such clever creatures can't they? They will solve the problems of the future with their creative out-of-box thinking! Your journals are so inspiring... I wish I could get the gumption up to make one of my own! Thanks for being you and keeping us all going!

Isn't it great when you're kids take up the things you enjoy doing? Sometimes I wish they do the things I like least as well...like the dishes :o(
They sure are cute. Maybe he'll start a journal of his progress. It's always fun to look back and see how much our work changes over time.
