I was looking through some old artwork recently for design inspiration. When I came across the designs I had made for PapayaArt a few years ago, I couldn't resist taking some paint to them. The papers seemed so flat to me. Here's what the paper above looked like originally:
I submitted the papers to Anahata and then she worked her graphic design magic and produced the final papers. Not having any luck finding a link to show you; I think they are all sold out (new collaborations are in the works). Here's another close up of the piece above after attacking it with ink:
Such a different feeling. Too bold for gift wrap, but it's coming alive now and will have a new purpose...not sure what yet. Not worried about that, just playing. Here's another original as it was submitted . They started as 22x30 watercolor papers.
And after playing on top with some ink:
Just an exercise in loosening up. That, and allowing myself to mess with something that I thought was finished before. It served it's purpose and now it's onto other things...

Pam,
You just CAN'T be sad looking at those beautiful colors! Great job!

Oh Pam,
These are beautiful, fun, whimsical and happy.
They make me smile and your doodles make the designs POP!
If you feel they are too bold for wrapping paper, may I suggest you consider using inks in darker values to accent your designs instead of black.
I love them, where and when can we purchase these?
Thank you for sharing, and causing smiles..

How cool to have your own design papers to play with, that must be a very powerful feeling. Love the black on these papers, they need to be book covers or something!

Love them... the addition of the ink is brilliant.

Love the boldness of the black against all that color!!! I've been doing a lot of black and white lately (thanks to Zentangles) but I'm ready to move on so I'm going to try more color and then be bold. Thanks for sharing....

pam, these are just absolutley gorgeous. both the originals and the ones you've added to. As a scrapbooker, I can say that if you had a line like this, I'd buy it in an instant. And I can see embellishments as well that come from the shapes within.. Pam you gotta get on this. You need your own line. Really..

Your art is so delightful, colorful, and fun. The black ink adds a lot to it, I think. But the original work was lovely too. Thanks for sharing your prolific creations with us!

They're such different looks, I probably wouldn't have even recognized them as the same piece (originals) unless you had pointed it out with the photos side by side. Even then, I had a hard time seeing the "original" through your new creation. Amazing how a black marker can change something so much. That's kind of how it is with our creations in general, right? As we go through learning new techniques and developing more skills, we can always see the difference in where we once were (which is totally fine) and where we are now. That doesn't mean that one is better than the other (art isn't necessarily a linear path). It just shows that we're on a different part of our journey, and that is inspiring, to me anyway!
