As seems to be becoming my standard M.O. , I took not one photo to share.
Bad blogger.
Thankfully, Jenny took these, and Heather took tons too. Heather's a professional photographer after all, so I knew she'd capture the fun beautifully. I think Amy captured some good shots as well. Check their blogs in the next couple days for more glimpses of the fun.
And fun we had. Here are some of the lovely ladies that came out to shop the Rose Bowl flea market with like minded creative friends old and new. And to those of you that came late, left early, or were just plain camera shy, we were happy to see you there too!
At least 6 came from San Diego, and one from Santa Ynez to join in the fun. {Too bad she was busy visiting to pipe up when the prize was awarded for the person who came the farthest distance!} There is talk of others hosting more of these blog world flea marketing mornings, so maybe one will even end up being in an area near you.
One fun part of flea marketing together is reviewing the finds. Over lunch we shared our favorite purchase. It's great to see through someone else's mind for a moment and hear their plans for using their treasure. Hearing the deal they got when buying it is super fun too.
I'll show mine here for those that enjoy that part too. I can take photos of those, now that I'm home. Here's my favorite purchase of the day. It was my first purchase too. An antique spun cotton bell ornament. I saw this at the flea market before (for $35.00 firm), but it was finally a price I could (sort of) justify. $20.00. A lot for an ornament, an extra, an indulgence, but it makes me so happy and I will treasure it, especially on the tree this Christmas.
Here are some things I found to share with my Silver Bella classes:
Some Rogers Brother's "first love" silver plate to add to our everyday silverware basket:
Some supplies for future creating fun:
And some fun things to use in the house:
and one last tiny pin that I thought was funny as I head off for Silver Bella... wonder if this is how my family feels about me!
It was so fun to meet you Pam! Hope you wonderful ladies make this an annual event. Or quarterly at a differnet flea market every time!

We had such a wonderful time and you guys were so friendly and sweet! And I spent way too much. I can't wait to post photos of my goodies, but am in jury duty and will have to do it little by little. I got one thing in particular that I am SO EXCITED about. I love your treasures. I use old silver everyday and can't wait to see what you do with all the pretty lace, buttons and beads! That button is hysterical! Thanks again!

I love your blog but I wonder why it is not easily googleable?? Even googling "pam garrison blog" doesn't bring up a direct link here?
I always remember seeing things here but google searches don't turn them up and without a search feature on the blog it's hard to find things! :-)

Hi Sarah, glad you like the blog. Is this something that Im supposed to do on typepad settings? Is that what you mean? When I googled pam garrison my blog was the first thing that came up, but as you said, when googling pam garrison blog it doesnt. Do you, (or any reader out there) know how to do a search feature on the blog? Thanks for any info. I hate to be frustrating anyone.

Pam! Hi stranger! I was thinking of you this morning as I waited for Mckenna's bus to come. So i decided to hop over to your blog today. I have not been to a flea since the one we went to together all that time ago. FOR SHAME!

Aaaaah. My mother has that very silverware from her wedding in 1950. We've used it every holiday that I can recall. Great choice.

Hi Pam
Question for you...you mentioned you added some silverware to your everyday basket. How do you clean your silverware. Do you put your silverplate in the dishwasher or do you wash it by hand? I have some great silver and silverplate I would love to use everyday but I'm not sure washing by hand with 3 kids is in my future. Just curious!
Thanks
Tracey

Hi Tracey, all the silverware in our everyday basket is either silverplate or silver and we put them in the dishwasher. None of it is precious, so I dont worry about it. Ive been doing it for at least 5 years and havent had any problems yet (with pitting etc.). and I do use the dryer function on the dishwasher as well. I dont use the silver that Ive been handed down however, just the sets and pieces Ive bought at flea markets or antique malls. Wouldnt want to take the chance with any special pieces.

OMG..... Rodgers, "First Love" silverware, I have that set stored. My mother gave it to me a long time ago, it was hers. I can't believe it. I actually have 1 big spoon that my grandmother used that I am using.

Thanks Pam for your reply...you've inspired me to start using the silver and silver plate that I've picked up here and there. And to start using the linens I've been picking up.
