I bought a sweatshirt on sale at Target and decided to use it as a new sampler background. The sweatshirt had some pencil lines, "New York", and bits of color on it to start, but it looked more like I had spilled Kool Aid on it than an intentional design. I took it as an excuse to stitch away. Here's a better look so you can see what I'm talking about.
I'm going to try to show some restraint and stop stitching on it now, but it's not easy when you are addicted to adding bits and bobs. Off to find a sweater, or apron, or birdcage cover or a skirt to stitch on...oh, the possiblitlies are endless, aren't they? And, in case you were wondering, it's already been through the wash too and came out A-ok.

That's such a great idea. This would also be a great thing to try out with thrift shop finds that maybe aren't in pristine condition and could use some sprucing up.

LOVE IT! Especially since when you're finished there's a real application for it, to wear it and look so adorable!

Too Kool...you spruce up a shirt that some might think to throw away and you turn it into a work of art...I love the little cherries, & the daisy like flowers..I can see how it might be an addictive craft that you can put down...I might have to try this myself...thanks Pam for the inspiration & for showing us your masterpiece in progress...have a honey of a night - sweet dreams! This is such a good idea. My daughter can do this over the summer when school is out and she thinks she has to buy new clothes...she loves to stitch and is still too young for the sewing machine so giving her a needle, thread and bunches of buttons and lace is perfect. Thanks

I just happened upon your blog via creature comforts. You sure turned this sweatshirt into something unique and one of a kind. I like the bohemianess and feminity about it.
