Yep, I've finished up my first sampler, am almost done with a second, and have started a 3rd. They aren't being made with any end purpose in mind. It's certainly not about perfect pretty stitches right now. Instead, it's about the finding of itty bitty treasures and giving them a nice pretty home, and also about just trying to do different stitches and techniques, but mostly it's about enjoying the medium and the sitting down and stitching away. The process is really fulfilling to me right now. I can't wait for Alicia's book, I know I'll be trying pretty stitches then. For now though, it's rough and no rules all the way. Here's #3 on my desk top at this very moment:
She's a real cutie, isn't she? Happy little girl.
Here's the second sampler, almost done.
I bought the above photo transfer long ago from someone as a patch. I've never been good at fabric transfers- too many steps/rules/instructions for me, but I love to use them if someone else has done the technical work. Well, that's enough. I'm sure you get the picture; I'm still addicted to stitching here...

Hi Pam! Your stitches and colors are so yummy! What delightful little treasures each in their own right and all together its like Thanksgiving for the eyes! I was at Teesha's PLAY retreat this last weekend and showed some people the old children's book journal I had made in your class at Art in Ashland. They loved it! One of the reasons I took and loved your class was to be inspired by your "sherberty" palette and yummy layering of textures. Isn't fun how our art translates from paper to fabric? Yours is so wonderful! Oh! and only two more months until Artfest! Can you believe it? See you there!
Happy Art & Stitching!

Your stitching is so inspiring!
May I ask what you used for the base of the pink sampler?

Beautiful little samplers Pam. RE: the photo transfers - Dawn @ the-feathered-nest.blogspot offers a tutorial on her blog "Printing on Fabric". I had always wondered how to do it easily at home and followed her tutorial using freezer paper. It worked perfectly :-)
Have a great weekend.

Lovely samplers! I agree that stitching is addictive- I started out doing box assemblage and suddenly I'm an expert in wrist cuffs and brooches! I can't put down that needle and thread.
