I often grab a journal and take it in the car when our family heads out somewhere. Inevitably, it seems some waiting is involved or I'll even doodle while my husband is driving.
Because I like to take a journal on the go, I decided I needed a smaller one than the others I currently have going. I chose to make one that was softer as well as smaller for ease of use. Here is a page that was drawn on the go. Now it just needs watercoloring or filling in with pens.
Here is the front cover:
and the back:
I was obviously in quite a colorful mood when I made the cover. The shine you see is some decoupage medium used for a soft and smooth feeling finish. Here are some favorite spots of mine from the cover:
Don't these girls seem like they have a good story to tell? They seem so happy.
...and this group seemed fitting for the back. They seem to be off onto another journey somewhere.
A page in progress done while on the road...
Hmmm...so far this year it seems I'm in a colorful mood. I'll do another post on journaling soon.
Hope you're having a colorful year so far too- xo

Your journals and pages are always SO yummy! I bought Somerset's Art Journaling to look at YOUR pages. Hope to see more!

I see that on one page you wrote that you were on the ferry at Balboa Island.
That was the last fun thing I did with my father before he fell ill and passed away.
I have good memories of that place.
The cottages and homes there are wonderful.
Thank you for prompting that sweet memory for me.

Happy New Year Pam! I screamed when I clicked on your blog and you had posted again, I will be honest, you are the reason I started blogging over a year and so ago. I saw you on tv and I was hooked. Love your work, Pam ? what kind of paper do you use for your journaling pages? I know the out side is fabric and then you sew on to what paper? Someday I hope to attend one of your classes. You should like about posting a video of you crafting, me and my two girls watched you everyday on the recording from the craft show you was on.
My daughter Olivia is turning 16 in May and I have been pondering what to do for her. Your post on your daughters party was inspiration the wheels are turning now. Thank you so much. Keep journaling.

pam,
i also love your journal pages and just bought the somerset journaling with you featured. do you make your journals with art paper etc? and what do you use for the outside. i have been trying to figure out how you bought a regular "journal" at borders or b&n and transformed it but i am thinking you take art paper and put it into some type of binder? i like peggy's idea..could you give us a video or a step by step process? thank you for sharing your gift.

I do have a question....what brand of pens/markers do you use? The one's I purchase always seem to dry out.

I too am interested in how your put your art journals together. I've been inspired my your journals as well as so many other artists who journal, so it's on my new years resolution list to start and complete an art journal this year. I was initially planning on using water color paper as I like to paint and such and didn't want to mess with pages warping. would love to hear your little tips and tricks! :)
